Kinship Hub Webinars

Here at Kinship Hub, we believe knowledge is power. We try to do what we can to help empower kinship carers and their families to do their incredibly hard jobs well. That’s why, when covid-19 restrictions were in place and everyone was isolated at home, we began to offer online webinars about topics of relevance to kinship families.

We’ve had talks given by our Founder/Director, Anna-Lou, and we’ve also had specialist guest speakers give talks in their areas of specialty. Topics of sessions we’ve held have ranged from managing family contact safely, to promoting a positive sense of identity, completing life-story work, building resilience, and natural Black and dual heritage hair care workshops.

Families that have attended our previous webinars have found the sessions not only informative, they’ve also found they get support and validation from the network of other kinship families that they’re on the calls with, as many have had similar experiences or faced the same difficulties.

Over the last few months, we’ve had a bit of a break from webinars while we focused on expanding the Kinship Carers Cooking Club and starting the Employability program, but we’re very happy to say that we’ll be back from April 2022! Our first session is scheduled for Monday, 18 April at 2pm. The topic of this one will be The Impact of the Energy Crisis on Kinship Families and What You Can Do About It. We’ll soon message our current kinship families with more details and a chance to register for the session. If you’re a kinship family that’s not already a member of Kinship Hub and would like to attend this webinar, please register now on the CONTACT tab of our website.

What our families are saying about Kinship Hub webinars:

“It was lovely meeting you and the other carers yesterday. The session was really helpful. I would definitely be interested in attending future sessions.”

“Thank you for these sessions”

“Thank you so much for all you’ve done it’s made my transition as a SG that little bit easier and not so alone. I think the last session open [sic] the eyes of other family members to show them how I’m being supported and not just that’s it open because baby is with me.”

“Really enjoyed the meeting thank you” (White SG with dual heritage child following one of the natural Black and dual heritage hair care workshops)

“Great info, this will be really helpful. Life story work is on my list of areas of support, so it will be great to have some further insight into this. I look forward to the upcoming webinars.”

“Thank you, X (Child) loved it”

“Thank you for all your hard work and inviting me and my daughter to be a part. I look forward to what's to come.”
